In a study of deaths and injuries involving forklift trucks, less than half of the employers had checked the drivers’ competence. By law, you must take account of your employees’ capabilities regarding health and safety when you give them a task. The law also requires that employers must make sure employees are given adequate training to ensure health and safety: when they are recruited; and when they are exposed to new or increased risks in the workplace. Only authorised drivers should be allowed to drive workplace vehicles. It is important to stress to drivers the risks of unsafe working such as driving too fast, turning too sharply or driving on unstable ground or slopes. At PLP Lift Trucks Ltd, we can train your operators on the following courses:
- Counterbalance Forklifts (of all capacities)
- Pivot Forklifts

- Overhead Cranes
- Emergency Evacuation

We are able to offer Novice, Experienced, Refresher and Conversion courses for all of the above.
Our CESAB Training Centre in Partnership with CESAB UK
CESAB UK has chosen the Dinnington site of PLP Lift Trucks for their dedicated Materials Handling Training Centre.
CESAB Material Handling UK’s first training and product familiarisation centre has been launched as a joint venture with Sheffield-based CESAB dealership PLP Lift Trucks.
The new facility in Dinnington, near Sheffield, will house the entire CESAB warehouse and counterbalanced forklift range, enabling CESAB employees and dealers across the North of England to conduct customer visits, warehouse simulation exercises, sales and operator training.
Terry Stephens, CESAB UK general manager, said: The investment in this centre is designed to give employees up-to-the-minute training on the product range, as well as enable prospective and existing customers to see every product functioning effectively within a full, simulated warehouse environment.
Training and continuous development is integral to the way we operate at CESAB. It gives our people full confidence to tailor-make safe and more profitable materials handling solutions for customers, knowing the latest advances not just within our product range but also in terms of operational techniques and innovations.
All CESAB equipment is designed for optimum safety, with industry-leading levels of visibility through the mast with CESAB Intelligent Mast Design (IMD). It’s important that these benefits are clearly communicated both internally and externally to ensure customers gain maximum results and we are sure the new centre will enable us to do this more effectively than ever.
